Digital Smile Design

How Many Sessions Does Digital Smile Design Take?

It takes an average of 2 sessions to complete the design and show it to you in the mouth. Impressions of your mouth are taken in the first session, and in the second session, the created design is shown to you in your mouth using an application named "Mock Up". The treatment process begins in line with the methods determined after the design is finished. Although the number of sessions varies depending on the condition of your teeth and the procedures to be performed, the desired results are usually reached in 3 sessions.

What Should I Expect In the First Session of Digital Smile Design?

In the first session, photos and videos are shot using studio equipment. Also, impressions of your upper and lower jaws are taken for the designing process.

How Many Days Does It Take to Complete the Digital Smile Design?

Digital smile design is completed within 3 to 5 days. In this process, the data, recorded in the digital environment in the first session, is evaluated by the dentist, and a smile is designed. When designing a smile, the facial features of the individual, namely the eyes, ear, nose, chin tip, etc. are taken into account. While determining the form of the teeth, it is essential to have a dynamic harmony between the form of the teeth and the style of the patient in line with the concept of visagism.

A second session is scheduled to test the model and present it to the patient, after transforming the digital design into a model based on the impressions.

What Happens In the Try-In Session?

A silicone mold (mock up) is prepared based on the digital design model and placed on your teeth. With the guidance of the dentist, this design can be examined in front of the mirror or by a video record. Then the silicone mold (mock up) is removed from the mouth.

What are the Cases Where the Try-In Session Cannot Take Place?

In cases where one tooth or multiple teeth are situated far from the position they originally should be in, it will not be correct to have a try-in session without changing the position of that tooth/teeth. It is because such teeth can prevent the ideal design from being implemented with 100% accuracy. However, this possibility is taken into consideration  during the decision-making stage.

What Happens When I Accept the Digital Smile Design?

The dentist explains in detail what kind of procedures should be applied to the existing teeth in order to achieve the ideal smile design. Digital smile design is usually achieved with a combination of Orthodontics, Dental Implants, and Gingiva applications, individually or together.
In line with the determined treatment procedure, the dentist schedules a new appointment, and the treatment starts. All procedures to be applied and the current situation are recorded and all steps of the treatment are planned according to the digital design.

Can I Make Changes to the Digital Smile Design?

The main purpose of the try-in session is to receive the approval of the patient, to express the points they do not approve and to make the desired changes. While small changes can be made in the same session (such as increasing/decreasing the length of a single tooth), scheduling a new session may be necessary for larger changes.

When the Treatment is Completed, Will I Get the Designed Smile Exactly?

The material used in the try-in session is insufficient in terms of both durability and appearance and is produced and only used shortly for try-in purposes. However, the teeth are produced using durable materials with special methods in laboratory conditions.
