Digital Impression and Scanning
In conventional dentistry, the impression of teeth and jaw is taken using dental impression material applied with metal trays. This method may trigger a gag reflex in patients, and impressions taken with this method may not always produce accurate results. In digital dentistry, an optical camera scans teeth using 3D scanning, then the images are transferred to the computer in 3D.
Advantages of This Method
- It is faster and more comfortable for the patient.
- The level of accuracy is much higher than that of the conventional means.
- It provides for fast progress
- It enables the archiving of all cases.
3D scanning has started to be used in almost all branches of dentistry.
